Artist's Description

One of the largest paintings I've ever executed, this Asian vase is painted on shattered and mounted slate-like panels in kintsugi tradition, a style of repair that is finished in precious metal, and in this case, 23kt gold leaf, which has an astounding tendency to reflect light even in dim ambient light. In this way such paintings have an entirely different experience and life in shifting and faint light. For more info on my Kintsugi series see brunocapolongo.com.

Bruno Capolongo is an established Canadian artist who has shown in well over one hundred and fifty exhibitions, including some forty solo shows. His work is collected by private and corporate collectors around the world. He has been formally represented broadly by fine galleries in cities such as New York City, Montreal, Toronto, and Washington DC. At mid-career, Capolongo discovered the fine craft of Kintsukuroi (aka Kintsugi). His Kintsugi-inspired series of unique paintings, mixed media constructions and ceramics testify to the artists ability to fuse unique and contemporary dynamics with traditional and classical forms.
